Reversing the symptoms
of ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia – Lyn White |
|
Since I last wrote about my recovery from ME in the
summer 2006 edition of Focus I have been pretty busy. I continue to have
excellent energy levels and have been skiing with all my family, which
was a real joy. I swim and do pilates regularly and enjoy walking in the
country when I can. I really do feel confident in my body again which
when I had ME I never thought I would. I completed the training for both
Mickel and Reverse Therapy but decided it was Reverse Therapy I was going
to practice. I am now seeing clients with ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, Anxiety,
and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. One of my first ME clients has now completed
treatment with much higher energy levels; she’s enjoying doing things
she hasn’t done for years - even jogging! I believe it will be some
time before this kind of treatment will be accepted by the NHS and NICE
(National Institute for Health & Clinical Excellence). Reverse Therapy understands ME/CFS to be a physical condition caused by an overactive area of the brain called the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus drives the body’s systems to exhaustion using the autonomic nervous system and a cascade of hormones from the pituitary and adrenals. Reverse Therapy is a supportive coaching process, it teaches clients the skills to reverse this condition and hence their symptoms. I work mainly from Dunelm Complementary Medicine
in Durham but have seen a client in York and also have premises in Sunderland
to see clients. In special circumstances I am able to visit clients in
their own home. I am hoping to be able to undertake training to work with
young people under sixteen in the near future. I am happy to speak to
anyone who wants to know more. |
