| Advances in technology over the years have meant that if you have access to a computer it is now easier than ever for those who are housebound, or otherwise without the opportunity to socialise, to meet people and have those social interactions that we all need in our lives. In the last issue of Focus we mentioned that we had set up a Facebook page and several of you have joined us there - thank you! - but it’s been a little on the quiet side so far! One of the facilities available on Facebook pages is a discussion board. Anyone can start a new topic - maybe you’d like to see what other people think of a certain therapy you’re thinking of trying, or share tips on how you manage your ME. It doesn’t have to be ME related though - you might want to discuss a great book you just read, or last night’s TV. To contribute you need to be a member of Facebook and then you need to join our page by visiting www.facebook.com/MENorthEast and clicking the ‘Like’ button if you haven’t already. Below the ‘Like’ button there is a tab marked ‘Discussions’. If you click this you will be able to see the current topics available for discussion, or you can click ‘Start New Topic’ to make a new one. We’re hoping that this page will become a valuable virtual space for people to share ideas, opinions and stories so please stop by and don’t be shy! Judy |
