Member Survey
and CFS/ME Service Evaluation
WE NEED YOUR HELP

Over the past 5 years the NHS have funded local CFS/ME services in our region, starting with Durham and Darlington and North of Tyne, then joined in 2006 by North Cumbria and Sunderland and finally the Teesside area joined in 2009 to offer complete cover across the whole of our region.

We estimate around 1400 people will have now been seen over this period. Many are also members of ME North East – (and this could be you!!). We need to hear from you, how you access the services, what you feel about your management and treatment, as well as a range of other questions to give a full picture of how understanding and treatment of ME has (or has not) improved over the last few years. This is very important for us as your elected patient representative on the Northern CFS/ME Clinical Network Board, whose aim is to develop, expand and improve service delivery for you all.

At the present time outpatient therapy services are available for the mild to moderate adult ME patient only. Services for the severely affected adult and all of the children’s services remain very limited and patchy, and it is the role of the CFS/ME Network Board to develop a business case to secure funds from the regional commissioners in the NHS to provide a dedicated NHS service for all people with ME.

We are also asking you to comment on our own role and function. Our priorities and strategic aims are determined by the needs and aspirations of you, our members. Finally we ask you to involve those who care for you to answer just a few questions. Help us to help you - every form sent back adds strength to The Voice for ME.

We have based this survey on the ME Association National Study that was published in May this year. We acknowledge the skill and professional expertise employed to produce a questionnaire that will provide robust and important information to help shape the future requirements to support the treatment and management of ME. We thank them for giving us permission to use their model.
