Derwentwater
Walk
Saturday 6th August 2005
Due to the success of last years sponsored walk
in Keswick and taking on board the feedback from the walkers themselves,
we are delighted to confirm that we will be repeating this event again
this summer.
Although the “full” walk is 9 miles
around the lake, there are a number of walks that you could do varying
in length and taking anything from one hour to the whole day to compete,
something to suit all individual needs. There are no major hills and the
routes are circular, clear and safe. You could walk as a family or with
a group, there are a number of landing stages where you can hop on a boat
and miss out a section (or two).
Such beautiful scenery, calming and relaxing with places to stop and watch
the world go by. There is even a lovely little tea room that serves gorgeous
cake and scones…..it is a wonderful way to spend the day.
Or you may want to make a week-end of it – we have chosen a Saturday
this year as we thought more people would be able to take part.
Again we are planning this event as a joint venture with AYME and all
funds raised will be shared.
We had 45 walkers last year – a great turnout – let’s
see if we can make it more. Sheila is the one to thank for planning all
this, she has a natural talent for getting people up and about!! Last
year Barbara McLaren and Bryan Stubbs from our management committee together
with Joy and myself took part and we all agree it was a fantastic day
– I for one will be polishing up my walking boots - please join
us.
A comprehensive free information
pack is awaiting your attention, it covers all the questions you may have,
includes detailed maps and helpful hints. Give us a call, check it out
and join in the fun.
