Samantha's

Road to Recovery

Hi my name is Samantha Carr and I am 20 years old. I have suffered from ME for the past 9 years. I was severely affected, bed bound and tube fed for most of that time. Over the past two years I have made many significant improvements, I am now able to walk and eat normally. I was recently nominated for an Academic Achievement award in Further Education at which I was very honoured. On the night I was very nervous at the fact I had been nominated and was chosen out of 70,000 to be in the final 53. Even though I didn’t win, the award ceremony was fantastic and I felt so proud of how far I have come.

Samantha has been a member of ME North East for many years and it gives me so much pleasure to see and hear how well she is doing, after being so severely affected by ME. Hopefully her story will inspire many of you out there feeling that this illness is never going to go away…..for some the journey just takes a bit longer.
