Kirri’s Arts & krafts |
I first met Kirri and her family about 4 years ago……Kirri
had been struggling to maintain any education, had missed months of schooling
and was desperately trying to keep up with her home tutoring. Kirri had
been diagnosed with ME and one of her major symptoms was severe pain in
her muscles and joints – not good news when the subject you loved
most was As long as I have known Kirri, she has pushed herself to get the very
best grades – sometimes, to the detriment of her health. But, it
was her art work that kept her going and the sheer determination to be
a success and not let the illness beat her. I have seen Kirri put on so
many “brave” faces over the years – like many of you
do so often to mask how you are really feeling. Next, came the Cleveland College of Art & Design. They were very
supportive of Kirri’s condition and looked at ways of working that
meant Kirri could attend the course as much as she was able. During her
time here, she won many awards for her work and her tutors found her a
pleasure to work with. I must say, that although Kirri did attend as much
as possible – you never saw her in college holidays – she
was too busy resting her weary body!! Sheila x |
